Counselling FAQs

Please reach us at enquiries@calmtidetherapy.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Sessions last 1 hour and are usually held weekly, although you can decide on what works best for you and session bookings can be tailored to your needs.

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. Many people seek support for anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, bereavement, life transitions, low self esteem or simply because they would like a safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings.

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll discuss what has brought you to counselling, what you might hope to achieve and answer any questions you may have. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Yes, I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone call to answer your questions, discuss your needs and help you decide whether we are the right fit to work together. There is no obligation to book further sessions.

There is no set number of sessions. Some people come for short-term support, while others benefit from longer-term counselling. We will regularly review your progress together and you can decide what feels right for you.

Yes, everything you share is treated confidentially. There are, however, a small number of legal and ethical exceptions such as if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else or where disclosure is required by law. These will be explained fully before counselling begins in the counselling agreement.

I ask for at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointmen. Cancellations made with less notice are charged at the full session fee except in exceptional circumstances. Sessions can be altered from in person to online or by telephone if attending in person is no longer convenient/ possible.

Payment can be made by bank transfer before your appointment to Calm Tide Therapy, Account no: 70508206 Sort code: 04-00-05

If attending in person, card payments or cash payment can also be accepted.

You can get in touch via the contact form, email, WhatsApp, text or telephone to arrange your free introductory call or book your first session.

Yes I have a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I’m fully insured, am an accredited registrant of the NCPS- National Counselling and Psychotherapy society (MNCPS Acc.).
